Secure Erase is a standard firmware-based technology developed by hard drive manufacturers that is built into most current drives.
Activation of the command by the intimus hammer completely resets the hard disk to its original state and deletes all data. During implementation, the drive is assigned a random password that encodes it. The drive will not be decoded until the Secure Erase process is complete. Secure Erase is faster, more secure and much more energy efficient than any software-based overwrite solution.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has already defined new guidelines for the deletion of electronic data media, which assign the Secure Erase procedure - in addition to demagnetization - to the highest security level. This level does not include physical destruction methods.
• Reusability of the drives protects the environment
• Checks the data deletion
• Creates a test report that can be saved or printed
• Can be used as a stand-alone device or in conjunction with a standard PC (via USB)
• As a portable standalone device, the intimus Hammer SE offers additional functionality when used with the CPR Toolbox software application (included in delivery)
