During degaussing, the data carriers are flooded with a very strong magnetic field, which far exceeds the hard disk's own magnetic force, the coercivity. The short and strong pulse irreversibly erases the data on the hard disk. The degaussen is characterized above all by its uncomplicated operation and the small space requirement, which also allows its use in an office environment.
