The Slimcase cases are much thinner and thus require less space. If the jewel case is 10.3 mm thick, the CD single is only 7 mm, the slimcase only 5 mm thick

The Slimcase was developed to meet the needs of the computer sector to store many individual media as space-saving. This was made possible by the absence of a readable back (see Maxi-CD) and the use of more elastic plastics, which are sufficiently stable even at lower strength.
